Overall, the film was good, if you’re a fan of the first one. However, many elements of the film felt like a cheap re-make of the first. The ridiculous amount of gay jokes seemed to off-set the tone of the film. (Not that I’m complaining, mind.) One of the best jokes (which actually works with the film) occurred when Connor, Murphy, Romeo, and Doc were drinking at McGuinty’s (as though they do anything else):
Connor: Will you please get over here and
Doc: [because of his Tourette’s] Fuck!
Connor: me in the
Doc: [Tourette’s] Ass!
There was also plenty of rope and use of Rambo knives, along with, as the brother’s put it, so eloquently:
Connor: You ready for this shit, my dear brother?
Murphy: Let’s do some gratuitous violence.
The bottom line, if you’re a fan of the first film, the second is worth watching. Otherwise, you can find some other way to spend 2 hours.
And here you can find A brilliant article about the cult-classic status of the film.
